The OpportunityThe Financial Services program provides centralized budget, accounting, payroll, and benefits to support the agency and program operations. Financial Services works to ensure budget and accounting operations are completed in compliance with state and federal guidelines as well as agency policies and procedures.
As a Fiscal Analyst 1 you will supply timely and accurate accounting information to both internal and external customers. This position is responsible for analyzing and processing allocated expenditures. You will act as a subject matter expert in researching, implementing, and maintaining contract payments, yearly fair allocations, organic cost share payments, invoice payments, and Specialty Crop Block Grant Program payments.What to Expect
Some of the various responsibilities within this role include:- Analyzes and interprets payment documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Verifies accuracy of invoice quantity and amount.
- Checks for duplicate payments.
- Creates and processes payment batches using Financial Toolbox and Agency Financial Reporting System (AFRS).
- Audits the vendor information in batches before release.
- Codes each document to ensure payment is charged to the appropriate divisions.
- Tracks payments by date paid in Enterprise Contracts Management System (ECMS).
- Responds to inquiries from agency personnel or vendors concerning payment status for referenced accounts.
- Assists higher-level staff with financial summary information, analysis of financial reports, and development of fiscal procedures.
- Analyzes and corrects discrepancies.
- Accesses AFRS to prepare and review fiscal documents.
- Works with vendors to get appropriate paperwork completed and submitted.
- Works with vendors to obtain required paperwork (e.g., W9, direct deposit, or change form).
Who should apply?
Professionals with:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Two (2) years of experience in payroll, accounting, bookkeeping, auditing, or other professionally based fiscal fields.
OR
- Higher education which includes 18 quarter or 12 semester hours of accounting, auditing, or budgeting may substitute year for year for experience.
In addition to the above qualifications, the following desired knowledge, skills, and abilities would make your application more competitive:
- Bachelor's degree, which includes 18 quarter or 12 semester hours of accounting, auditing, or budgeting.
